I was invited on a longish cycle ride last weekend but didn’t really feel up for it. Partly because the day was cold and somewhat windy and also because I felt like having a relaxed day at home. My bad.
Of course, halfway through the day I felt guilty for not going on the ride so I dashed out for a quick cycle ride near where I live. I spent an hour in the saddle and covered a mere 12 miles but at least I had done something, right!?
I think that brings me to the point of this post. In winter, I think it’s important to continue cycling every week even if your trip distance is short. I wrote about this before in Five Tips for Winter Cycling. So, whatever you do, please carry on cycling over the winter. The continuity will definitely help maintain a base level of cycling fitness ready for longer distances next spring.
Wrap up warm though!

Winter cycling is great. As long as you can manage to wear the right clothing to stay toasty and warm. One of the most important things I find is to have a set of puncture resistant road cycling tyres for this winter to limit the need for stopping and getting cold.
Great Blog
