I’m going on a two day cycling trip to the Chilterns in a few weeks so I’ve increased my riding distances over the last few weekends. Last Saturday, I cycled 76 miles in Sussex and Surrey on a circular route that started and ended in Horsham. I’m hoping that this will be good practice for the Chilterns trip.
The route for Day 1 of the Chilterns trip is shown below (in red). It’s 83 miles in total but we’re staying a few miles from the start so I’ll end up doing about 90 miles I reckon. It’s gonna be a tough one because the route has quite a few hills as well.
We got this route from Great British Bike Rides: 40 Classic Routes for Road Cyclists which is a fantastic book featuring rides from all over the UK. Buy it! It’s sure to give you some ideas for new routes.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to the Chilterns weekend. It will be good to explore a part of the country that I don’t know very well (although there’s a small overlap with my Ridgeway Cycle Ride from a few years ago). I’ll let you know how it goes!
