I’ve signed up for 30 Days of Biking – which means that I need to cycle every day in April! I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to complete a month’s worth of cycling although my resolve may be tested if we get a wet April. However, there’s no minimum distance requirement on any specific day so I reckon I should be able to cope with any adverse weather (fair weather cyclist that I am).
So far, I’ve done two days and I’ve tracked my routes on the Share Your Adventure website.
- Day 1: A short cycle ride near my home in Horsham.
- Day 2: Another round-the-block cycle ride near my home.
OK, I know these are not the longest distances in the world but daily cycling is not something I’ve done before. I’ve been on many cycling trips over two or three days but 30 days is new to me. By the end of the month, I plan to increase the distances every day although I’ll need to see how tired I get.
So far, the main challenges have been a) driving back from Cornwall in time to get out for a cycle ride on Day 1 and b) the cold weather on both days; it’s April but daytime temperatures are less than 5°C here at the moment.
Anyway, it’s been a good start for me on the 30 Days of Biking challenge. I’ll report back again next week.
